- 8 large apples (Golden Delicious)
- 100g butter
- 120g sugar
- Puff pastry (28cm)
Peel and remove the pips from the apples. Cut them into 6 evenly-sized slices.
Melt the butter in a baking tin. Line with the slices of apple, curved-side down. Sprinkle over the sugar and leave to stew over a low heat for 7 to 8 minutes. Leave to cool before covering with the puff pastry, taking care to tuck the edge inside the tin (between the fruit and the sides).
Bake (in an oven heated to 200°C) for around 20 minutes until the puff pastry begins to colour (golden brown). Remove the dish from the oven and turn the tart out quickly onto a dish in order to present it.
